Philosophers is a compendium of oil-on-paper drawings portraying the faces of renowned thinkers such as Immanuel Kant, Ludwig Wittgenstein, among many others, as well as figures from other disciplines, including David Lynch.
It is an attempt to reflect human beings whose lives were devoted to profound existential questions—questions that at times revealed ultimate truths, and at others immersed us in further doubts that concern us all as human beings: life, death, otherness, reality, and so forth.
These are faces that seek to express perplexity, depth, despair, or ambiguity in the presence of urgent imperatives that shaped both their own lives and ours. Expressions that together form a complete drama: the drama of having pursued inquiry, sniffing out—like hounds—both doubts and contradictions, if such contradictions indeed existed.
In the end, they are faces like those of troubadours, narrating a devotion to knowledge and wisdom, to what truly matters.
